In December 2019, the Students’ Financial Support Office at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) embarked on a mission to provide financial aid to deserving students. This year marked a significant milestone as the office disbursed its 3rd batch of scholarships. To foster interaction and gather feedback, the inaugural UCC Scholars’ Forum was held on March 9th and 10th, 2023.

The forum, chaired by Prof. Samuel Acquah, Chairperson of the Scholarship Sub-Selection Committee, attracted eager participants. Awardees were grouped by colleges, with different days dedicated to various disciplines.

The forum commenced with prayers and introductions, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Ms. Joyce Okoampah Gyampo introduced the Students’ Financial Support Office staff, setting the stage for an engaging forum.

Prof. Samuel Acquah emphasized the importance of the forum in reorienting awardees towards their roles as UCC Scholars. He encouraged excellence in all aspects of their lives, highlighting the office's mission to cultivate a community of scholars who make a positive impact.

Ms. Grace Mensah, Head of the Students’ Financial Support Office, led a thought-provoking discussion on what it means to be a scholar. Awardees were challenged to excel academically and personally, understanding their pivotal role in the Scholarship Scheme's future.

Ms. Esther Dede Azzu, Principal Administrative Assistant, spoke about the 2023 volunteer program, aiming to foster a community of scholars dedicated to community impact. Awardees were presented with diverse volunteer opportunities, with the chance to give back while building networks and exploring career paths.

Ms. Joyce Sam concluded the forum by highlighting its purpose and inviting awardees to share their insights. She emphasized the synergy between excellence and community service, urging everyone to strive for both.
